Why ask?

Even after living in Korea for more than one year, I still find it difficult to decipher the structure of the language, as it is so completely different from any other language I've ever learned.
I once asked my teacher: "Seonsaengnim (teacher), what does the ending -jiyo mean?"
"You use that when you ask a question of which you already know the answer."
Me, confused: "Why should I ask a question when I already know the answer???"

A new star in figure skating

Well done, Yuna Kim!
After Michelle Wie represented Korea's pride in the golf sport (although she plays for the USA - but Koreans still regard her as their own), this country now boasts another world-class athlete: Yuna Kim, just 17 years old, was the first Korean (and skating for Korea) to win the prestigious Skate America Grand Prix this year.
Americans, Russians, Japanese: Beware! Competition from Korea is serious. Once Koreans found enthusiasm in something, they won't be easy to keep off.
